The thoughtful, low-profile waist closure (2 small interior snaps, zip to the top with zipper garage and hook-clasp belt); the comfy, lined waistband; the tough, lightweight fabric; the multitude of useful pockets - all of these things are awesome, but useless if you can't move in the shorts!
While the waist and hips run a bit large by size, the legs are tailored far too narrow for ladies with a powerful butt and legs from cycling, xc skiing, running and hiking. Since the fabric has no stretch, I'll have to return these and find something else.
I do not recommend this product.

These shorts are very well made and sturdy. I like all the pockets, but especially the side pockets -- one that can easily hold a smartphone, and the other with a zipper to hold valuables. The waist band is soft and comfortable, and the 9" length is not too long. I also got the 7" length -- I like them both. I owned a similar Mountain Hardwear short years ago in a size 10; I'm the same size but the short that fits is now an 8.
I would recommend this product.
