I bought this jacket to replace a soft shell that weighs twice as much. I was worried that the Mecurial would not block as much wind or keep me as warm because it was not as heavy. There is no problem of this. In the last two weeks I have used the jacket to bike commute to work in 15 degree temperatures, backpack in light rain, and coaching a track team (which requires standing in one place not moving) in 40 mph winds. In all conditions, wind, cold, and wet, it performed flawlessly. Having a hood helps tremendously to keep moisture and air out. And, although the thumb holes are one stitch too tight on me, the sleeves are actually long enough for my arms (I'm 6'5" with a reach of 6'9"). This is definitely a jacket to add to your collection.
I would recommend this product.

My new favorite jacket. The hood is actually usable thanks to its adjust-ability. The fleece insulation is what makes it my favorite. I can just wear a t-shirt for temps down to 40 and a warmer base layer for lower temps. If it had some kind of ventilation I would give it 5 stars.

great jacket for the money. nice craftsmanship and excellent breathability. was expecting it to be a little tougher material as it's pretty soft even for a soft shell. sheds water like a champ on rainy trips to the gas station at work.

I first saw this product on the web site and was not impressed because the hood looked dorky and it was a turn off. But I saw the product in a store and I had to have it. I use the Mountain Tech jacket when I do not need a hood and it is warmer. But with chilly temps and/or rain or snow this is the one I reach for. Gorgeous and functional and technical. First person who saw me wearing it bought one the next day. Comfortable and warm and attractive. This is designed for active outdoor activity but I use my old stuff more often because I don't want to mess up the look. how crazy is that? This is the one article of clothing from Mountain Hardware that fits more true than most of the other items.

Good All Around Jacket

This jacket is a good all around jacket. I bought it to replace my old soft shell (9 yrs old) that I used almost everyday and for backpacking, climbing and general outdoors. The fit is great for me (6' 1", 173 lbs) and I like the adjustable hood so I can fit it over my ski/climbing helmet. It also has hobo gloves built into the sleeves that never get in the way but are nice for a little extra warmth. I haven't used it in any serious down pours yet, but the slight snow in Colorado and rain I've had so far in Scotland. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because it doesn't have arm pit zips. Any jacket that is meant for active use should have some kind of ventilation. Construction also seems sound in the month of so I've had it.
