I use this pack for snowshoeing and it fits the bill perfectly. Like a couple reviewers stated though just a little bigger would be nice for those colder days when you need to carry a couple extra layers. Love the exterior straps and the internal water bottle pockets. Never used a rear entry pack before but it was really convenient - you can even pull out of the shoulder straps and spin the pack around while still attached at the waist for quick, easy access.
I would recommend this product.

So, after a full year and many snowshoeing day trips I have a few more observations: one - the rear entry can be difficult to stuff a bivy/break jacket in if the pack is at it's limits due to the fact the interior pockets take up most of the space in the middle of the pack. When I'm done with a break, I end up flipping the large interior pocket (designed for a water bladder I think) out of the way, stuff my puffy jacket in, then lay the pocket on top and compress the whole thing down to zip it up; two - the exterior straps are awesome for strapping on snowshoes and poles and even an ice axe; three - the pockets on the waist belt are nice but hard to zip back up with only one hand. Overall I do like this pack, especially on warmer days when I don't have to load it to it's max.
Great pack for a day trip. Would actually like it to have slightly more space in the main compartment. At the place where the 3 individual storages meet (hydration, goggle, main space) they seem to bottle neck at the top with more space in the bottom of the pack. Was skeptical with the rear entry but was perfect for working in powder and has plenty of space with easy access for your skins, shovel, and probe.

This pack is great! The storage features are all right were I want them. Went from using a traditional top loading pack to this winter specific pack and it's a major improvement. My only complaint is the capacity, if this pack was 5 liters larger it would be absolutely perfect

This is my second MH backpack. My first real snowboarding pack. I haven't had a chance to use it on the mountain yet but it rocks around town. I'm 6' tall and weigh 200lbs. The large fits well especially with a few layers on. The Dyneema back panel is bullet proof... supposedly the strongest fiber in the world! Bottom line is I would gladly recommend this pack to a friend.
