I own last years model so I will not go into great detail as some of the design has changed. I use this bag as a peak/scramble bag. I find the 30L is an ideal size for packing weather gear and other essentials. I have used the bag on numerous summits, most recently the Mountaineer's route on Whitney. A few remarks about features. I appreciate the simplicity of the bag. I like that the frame is removable. Yet even with it in, I can easily pack it (roll it) into my larger bag. Weight is good too. Streamlined shoulder straps do not require any more padding than provided. Compression strap distribution is ideal to keep the bag tight and straps in general keeps the pack close. Lots of places to attach gear is awesome. Minimal internal attachment for hydration is great. Top zipper pocket is convenient. Material is strong against rock, handles well in rain too. Excellent bag!
I would recommend this product.

I bought this pack for a summer climb up the Exum route of the Grand Teton. Since then, it has acted as a gear bag for the climbing gym and has made it to the top of Mt. Borah (Idaho) in a winter condition ascent.
I chose the pack because it was compact enough to stuff inside of my main backpacking bag so I can leave my bulky heavy pack at camp and climb with a nice light pack. It works EXCELLENT for this, and this is exactly how I used it on the Teton. I found that the pack was a bit too lightweight on the final approach from our campsite to where the actual climb started. I had rock pro, a half rope, climbing shoes, food and water in the pack and it was loaded to the max. Once I took the rock pro and rope out, it was perfect for carrying my hiking boots, food and water to the top.
As a gear back for the climbing gym and local rocks, it is perfect.
The winter condition ascent of Borah required extra clothing in the pack, but not as much rock pro as the teton. With the rope, it was a little heavy for the lack of structure. It was also packed to the max with the extra winter clothing, but I found that it was perfect once the rope was off the pack.
Pros of this pack: Compact, lightweight, durable, looks bad-A, comfortable if not overloaded.
Cons of this pack: Little too light for carrying rope + rock pro in addition to all the other summit day stuff.
Overall: BASICALLY, THIS PACK LIVES UP TO ITS NAME!!!! It is ideal for scrambles. Its not ideal for climbs where you'll be needing to carry much technical gear for very far. If you're not planning on carrying it with a max load, this pack is awesome. I'd recommend it to anyone. If you're going to be carrying much technical gear, get something a little bigger/sturdier.
Great pack Mtn HardWear!
I would recommend this product.
