I recently purchased the Shaka 50 which was replacing a larger pack that was at least 12 years old. I took a shot in the dark and bought this off the website without even trying it at a store. Been a MHW fan since my first purchase (Exposure Parka and Fleece) over 15 years ago so I rolled the dice, as I own a good deal of MHW gear. I must say..... I was totally impressed.
The maiden voyage was just two weekends ago in the GW National Forest, Virginia for three days. I have a long standing habit of overpacking, and of course I did again, but the pack held everything and I still had room.
The design of the pack was so well thought out, its like the engineers were in my head.
It truly is everything I would have done if I designed a pack. I could go on and on but will save my fingers from the pain of typing for an hour.
I purchased the Large which is 60L. I may just spring for the Shaka 70 for longer trips as the Large comes in at 75L.
I would recommend this product.

I recently purchased the Shaka 55 and even put it through the ringer the same day. I ventured out to Mount Jefferson for a 2-day climbing trip and MAN, was I impressed with the design and functionality of the Shaka 55. Firstly, the huge J-Shaped zipper on the fron of the pack makes accessing the pack simple and easy especially when you have pickets, axes, poles, etc. lashed to your pack. I was easily able to fit my clothes, sleeping bag, food, water, helmet, and climbing harness into the main compartment with plenty of room to spare. Secondly, the two compartments on either side of your hips works perfectly for attaching your ice tools to your pack without worrying about stabbing yourself (or the pack for that matter). By using those reinforced pockets, all of my protection was secured tightly the entire trip allowing me to move freely in tight areas. Other small features that I love are things such as the independent water pouch (keeps stuff dry), the drawcords which open and close really easily, and finally the neoprene stretch pouch in the front. It is perfect for stashing snacks, maps, lights, gloves, etc. for quick retrival. Overall, this is by far the best pack I've ever purchased and would recommend this product to anyone everyone that camps/climbs. I couldn't be more happy with my purchase and look forward to taking my Shaka 55 to many more summits!
I would recommend this product.
