I just received this guy today in the mail after doing much research on sleeping bags in general. There are no reviews of any kind that I could find by vigorously researching on Google. So here I go on the very first review of this bag on the MHW website.
To start off; I work in an outdoors store in Huntsville, Alabama and have been working here since September 1st 2011. In other words, I know what I'm selling and therefor I know what to buy. We recently (within that past 4 months) just started carrying the Big Agnes Downteck (however you spell that) sleeping bags. Sure, they're awesome mainly because they're waterproof 650+ down fill bags. We also have been carrying the Mountain Hardware Lamina and Ultra Lamina bags for longer than I've been employed here. The sound of waterproof down was music to my ears. I really wanted one from Mountain Hardware. I can keep going on and on about this stuff folks...
So since we didn't carry anything with down and water resistant capabilities from Mountain Hardware I had to do some serious researching on the inter-webs. After watching videos of Lamina's and Ultra Lamina's and whatever else I thought was cool; I found the Hibachi 15. I was thrilled to find a waterproof down bag in my price range.
I had no way to physically feel that bag with my own hands or to see someone's reaction or read a review of it so I feel like I'm kind of stepping into the dark a bit on this one. But I do have more than enough faith in MHW products and I don't think this bag will let me down.
Right out of the box I was giddy and excited. I pulled it out of its throw bag nice and easy feeling like I would in some way ruin it (I'm pretty clumsy). It felt like Heaven to my hands, it's lofty and comfortable and with a sleeping pad I'm sure I'll just float away. The stuff sack is perfectly sized along with the width of the shoulders. This is a regular sized bag and I'm 5'10" and wear medium shirts and 31x32 pants so we'll see if there are any dead spaces. This will fit very nicely in my Fall Season backpack this October.
I will write another review after testing it and let you guys know how it went. Until then...
I would recommend this product.
