We used Trango 4 at trail camp on Mt. Whitney. It was the last weekend of April and the night was very windy. It was not snow storm but strong wind blew all night long. Outside temperature was about 25 degree and inside tent was warm and comfortable. We believed we were in good hand until one of the pole broke off. The broken pole also ripped fly. We could not sleep at all in fear of thought that the tent might blown away. Our team had several tents spread out at trail camp and all of them stood fine except my Trango 4. I am considering to use another brands for next winter climbing.
I do not recommend this product.

I just spent 45 days in this tent in Brooks Range, AK, and I'd do so again. The materials of the tent are of the best quality on the market; however, there is still room for improvement.
The tent held up well in rain, but after several days of drizzling, the tent-bottom fabric would begin to absorb water, even while changing campsites. It's worth noting however that I did not have a footprint, which may solve this problem readily.
Additionally, the tent poles are lightweight and durable, but they need further reinforcement at the ends to prevent cracking, which will begin after extended use.
The durability of the zippers also needs to be increased. Over time, the internal zippers become misaligned and eventually near-impossible to repair. This was incredibly frustrating in the tundra where closed tent doors are absolutely necessary to keep mosquitoes out.
That may seem like a lot of negatives, but in all seriousness, this is a phenomenal tent with very little room for improvement. I especially like that the rain fly and tent body are separate pieces (as opposed to some other high-end tents), which is especially nice in the mornings when the fly can be removed to prevent overheating.
I'll end by saying that having the vestibule pole outside of the rain fly is a HUGE improvement over earlier models--well done.
I would recommend this product.

Solid workmanship. Good tent for situations where you don't have to carry it too far from the airstrip or boat drop & want extra room. Looks like it should hold up to willawa winds pretty well, but I have not had it in that condition yet. It is quite a bit larger than the 3. If I'm carrying on my back, I would stick with the Trango 3. I have lots of experience with the 3 and it can take a Alaska Penensula storm like a champ.
I would recommend this product.

This tent is easy to setup and take down (I appreciate that you can just stuff the tent into it's bag rather than fold it or roll it first), has lots of pockets inside, and a good size vestibule. Very happy with it overall.
I would recommend this product.

I was in need of another car camping tent for my family of 4. We do alot of camping in both summer and colder fall conditions. We live out west where mountain weather is unpredictable. I decided to spend the money on this Trango 4 because I think we can also use it as a 4 person backpacking tent with splitting the tent pieces up between 4 people. We took a trip to Utah for the tents first use and had some wind/rain and temperatures in the 30's This tent is bomber and although we haven't really tested it yet, I can see its going to do well in any condition. Plenty of space for 2 adults and 2 4 yr old boys.more than enough guy out lines for windy conditions and the tent is warm enough for 4 seasons. Its very well made with good material and light/strong poles and having 2 vestibules/doors is handy. I bought the footprint with it, which is durable material and nice that it fits the tent just right as opposed to using a tarp. Overall a GREAT tent that I hope lasts us for many years.
I would recommend this product.
