A friend used this tent to live in during a 3 month stay in Costa Rica. The sun, rain, sand, rocks and nomadic lifestyle were no problem for this product.
I purchased it for use on canoe and mountain bike trips in Florida and the south. I've also used it from Florida to the Rockies.
While many components are very light weight, I assume consumers would realize that is what you get when you look at tents for hiking and backpacking. Duh...if you need heavy duty get a different model/style. I've used everything from Army shelter halves, ponchos, lean to's, expedition tents, igloos...etc. each shelter has it's specific strong points and weak points.
This tent is Great! As are the jackets, shorts, shirts, parkas, packs and other Mountain Hardware products I've purchased and used for years. Only one other manufacturer comes close, but; I agreed not mention competitors.
I would recommend this product.

While looking at the Lightwedge 2 DP, I realized I have an older version as I bought mine close to 2005. However the Lightwedge 2 has lasted me this whole time and I'm using my tent as a testament to Mountain Hardware's quality and durability when it comes to their products as well as this series.
I've easily used this tent close to a hundred times and I still look forward to using it every time I go out. I've had to replace the original stakes due to wear and tear and the only other issue I've had was a slightly bent aluminum pole section which I was able to bend back. This tent is simple, light, durable and fast and easy to put up. I've been through light and heavy rain, wind and snowfall and have never had a drip of water or moisture in the tent. I once let my brother-in-law use it and while everyone he went camping with complained of the 5 degree weather his comment was the tent was too warm.
I've convinced three of my buddies to buy the same tent after a camping trip in the desert where my tent was the only one standing due to extremely high winds. My tent still looks brand new and I've had no color fade. I have a very thorough cleaning process after I'm done using it and I never strayed from the manual instructions. Now that I have one 4 yr. old and another on the way I'm only saddened Mountain Hardware doesn't make a family sized tent, something to sleep 6 or 8.
Bottom line is you can't go wrong with this tent or Mountain Hardware.
I've recently started collecting gear again for backpacking trips and instead of buying a new tent I've decided to bring my Lightwedge 2.
I would recommend this product.

This tent was put to the test on a 10 day expedition in Death Valley - with VERY high winds at night I tied my tent to trees and used every stake I had and then some to cement it into the ground! And it worked! Tent didn't move at all or get blown away for the entire time I was there. This is listed as a 2 person tent but if you are camping with all of your gear, it turns into a 1 person tent. I was thankful to have the tent to myself to be able to sleep comfortably amongst my gear, would have been hard to fit another person .. even if they didn't have gear. Also, the given tent stakes are rather flimsy, would HIGHLY recommend buying an additional set (as I would with any other tent) but this was a must, I bent 3 stakes the first night with out even pushing hard at all... other than that, great tent! cool color that blends in with wooded areas too!
I would recommend this product.

Great tent, very light weight and easy to set up. Both times it was used involved a few days of heavy rain, but stayed dry the entire time. As a previous reviewer mentioned the clips that attach too the poles are flimsy. One clip broke during the second use while setting up. I've had to use MH warranty services before in the past and I'm sure it will not be an issue to get replaced.
I would recommend this product.

This is an awesome tent. Lightweight and durable enough for backpacking trip after backpacking trip. The quality is top notch and the design is flawless. I've owned and used many high quality tents over the years but this one stands out in a big way.
This is the quickest and easiest tent I have ever pitched. The dry pitch option is great for pitching the tent in the rain or to shave some weight for minimal weight backpacking trips. The gear loft above the door in the tent is an added bonus. Plus, There are plenty of lashing points to hang gear from the top to dry out wet clothes, etc.
I use this tent for myself + gear(75L pack) and it works out beautifully.
I would recommend this product.

This tent is fairly easy to set up and does a good job of keeping rain and condensation out. Something to note is that it is extremely flimsy. I'm terrified that I'm going to break it every time I set it up. The pegs are made of very thin aluminum and completely bent out of shape the first time I set up the tent. The soil was slightly gravelly and it was unavoidable. I would advise getting pegs that actually work even though they will be heavier. The little plastic clips for the poles on the corners of the tent are also very breakable. I kneeled on one before I even set it up and it shattered, which really sucked. So far, the poles and the fabric have held up well, although I am extremely careful with them.
I do not recommend this product.

Questionable validity of comment
Posted September 5, 2014
I feel the users comments about this product should be viewed with some trepidation. Based on almost 50 years experience in the outdoors and about 8 years experience with this product, ranging from Florida to Colorado, I see the problems as user error, rather than product failure. There is no perfect solution, but; for a cost, weight, size, user friendly solution I'm extremely impressed with this tent.
